Kin Communications would like to bring your attention to the following article addressing the announcement by Telus that as of January 30, 2017, they will be shutting down their 2G CDMA network.

Terminating this aging network necessitates the use of 3G/4G technology, paving the way for Siyata Mobile (TSX-V:SIM / PINK:SIMFF) to replace the outdated Motorola M800 connected vehicle devices currently installed in their clients’ commercial vehicles across Canada.

Telus to shut down CDMA service on January 31, 2017

With most Canadian mobile devices on some form of HSPA+ or LTE network, you don’t hear mention of CDMA that often anymore. And for good reason; carriers like Telus, which still maintain their CDMA network for legacy customers, plan to mothball the tech over the next few years.
