Urban Delivers Symmetrical, Ultra High Speed, Enterprise Internet Service to the City of Coquitlam and Coquitlam Public Library After Comprehensive RFP Process.

Vancouver, BCUrban Communications Inc. (TSX-V:UBN), one of the country’s first telecommunications companies to deliver Gigabit Internet service to the home, today announced it has won two request for proposals (RFP’s) for the City of Coquitlam and Coquitlam Public Library, and is now providing both with symmetrical, ultra high speed enterprise Internet services, creating immediate monthly recurring revenue to Urban.

Urban’s enterprise service team offered the best combination of price, service level, route, data usage, reporting and customer service demanded throughout the RFP process to meet the needs of City employees and public library patrons for years to come. Urban’s enterprise Internet services provide Gigabit and higher symmetrical Internet speeds with unlimited data transfer and enterprise service level agreements.

“We are very pleased to expand our relationship with Coquitlam” said Urban VP of Product, Jon Paul Janze. “Our experience and track record delivering the fastest residential Internet speeds in the country plus our commitment to municipal partnerships and Coquitlam QNET create a synergy that will ensure Coquitlam residents and businesses are provided with significant advancements in broadband service.”

Urban and QNET have an agreement under which Urban has gained access to QNET’s fibre footprint to serve the community of Coquitlam and areas of Port Moody with its ultra high-speed Gigabit Internet access. QNET (Coquitlam Optical Network Corporation) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Coquitlam that provides businesses, schools and residential high-rises with access to Coquitlam’s state-of-the-art 60+ km. fibre optic network.

These two RFP wins demonstrate the success of Urban’s municipal partnership strategy to work with city governments to help meet the demands of citizens for better, faster Internet services, to provide cost effective services to the city for its own use and to leverage municipal infrastructure to extend the reach of Urban’s own network.
