Urban Adds 9.3 km. of Fibre in Downtown Vancouver; Acquisition Preparatory to Connection of 100 Commercial Buildings in the Next 18 Months
Vancouver, BC – Urban Communications Inc. (TSX-V: UBN), one of the country’s first telecommunications providers to deliver Gigabit Internet service to the home, today announced that it has acquired a 9.3 km. private fibre optic network in high density, underserved commercial and residential corridors of downtown Vancouver.
With this acquisition, Urban enhances its fibre density and building access in downtown Vancouver. The 9.3 km. expansion will add more than 100 commercial buildings to Urban’s network over the next 18 months. The expansion project is well under way, with over 25 buildings already connected or under construction.
The acquisition will cost an estimated $2.2 Million over 5 years and give Urban access to more than 2,700 new businesses and 3,200 residential units.
